In 1883 my grandparents, Jane Pilkington and William Leach, immigrated to Denmark from Andover in the southern part of England, where they lived for a short time before they left the country. William and his brother were hired as keepers of the stables and as a riding instructors for Count Friis and his family at Denmark’s greatest estate Frijsenborg. Jane is born i Belfast, Ireland, and they were married in Cork, in Southern Ireland. They had 11 children, 6 boys and 5 girls. The oldest daughter Rosalind was born in Andover, England, the other children were born at Frijsenborg near Aarhus in Denmark.
In the summer 2000 we travelled around the southern part of England and we visited Nether Wallop where William was born, it was like going 150 years back in time. Jane was born in Belfast in Ireland. They were married in Cork, Ireland in 1881. William died in Holstebro in 1934 and Jane in 1935.
